Tamworth based children’s charity ‘Simon’s Heroes’ are working together with help the of the family of a local Window Fitter.
Ashley Round’s two year old son Charlie has recently been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma – a rare cancer of the nerve cells.
The condition was only finally diagnosed after constant pressure from Ashley and his wife Rachel after initially being told by Doctors that they needn’t worry too much about a sudden swelling which had appeared on the side of the toddler’s head.
His mother, Rachel, said: “Our baby boy was a fun-loving and happy child and he suddenly changed.
“He developed a lump in a strange shape on the side of his head literally overnight and when he tried to stand he could not stand and support himself.”
Since the stage 4 Cancer diagnosis Charlie has been admitted to hospital where he now faces 12 months of treatment which will include chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery and immunotherapy.
Both Ashley and Rachel have had to give up work to be with him and their seven-year-old daughter Olivia.
Family and friends of the brave toddler have rallied round to raise cash for the family who face a year of being in and out of hospital with little Charlie.
Tom Parker, a friend of Charlie’s dad Ashley, has set up a JustGiving page in a bid to raise cash for the family, as Ashley is self-employed.
He hopes to raise £20,000 for them – and as of today had hit the £14k mark.
