After days of speculation, Championship promotion-chasers Middlesbrough have confirmed on their official website that current boss Aitor Karanka will stay on in the role despite storming out of a club training session last week.
In a short statement, the club said: “Middlesbrough Football Club can confirm that Head Coach Aitor Karanka will be resuming first team duties with the club with immediate effect.

“We have 10 games left this season and as a club we are fully focussed on what remains of our Championship campaign.”

The Spaniard, who has been in charge at the Riverside since November 2013, was reportedly considering his future at the club after an explosive row at the club’s training ground on Friday.

Karanka will return to the helm for a crucial match against fellow promotion contenders Hull at the Riverside on Friday.
